Congratulations to our Engineering Studies students who have won major prizes in the state wide University of Wollongong STEM competition in Engineering. Students were required to submit a Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) project. These submissions came from schools all over the state.
Our students submitted projects from a wide field of engineering such as: bio-medical; civil structures; and aeronautical engineering.
Our Year 11 students Isabelle Ryan and Colin McGlynn were successful in achieving major awards in the Engineering Student Year 11 project category. Their report, redesigning a knee implant, included an analysis of suitable materials, 3D CAD drawings, and a 3D Polymer printed component.
Neil Borges from Year 12 received a major award in the Civil Engineering Project. This project involved the design and development of a lightweight cycleway and pedestrian bridge over a Taren Point road intersection. Prototypes were built and analysed in CAD software, our students were also required to provide how the cycleway construction would be managed.
