On Wednesday 24 May, a group of us went to the Sydney Writers' Festival at Roslyn Packer Theatre. The writers that we heard from included Sarah Crossan, Grabrelle Williams, Yassmin Abdel-Magied and finally Jennifer Niven. All the authors were amazing to listen to – Sarah Crossan showed us how poetry is truly a something that we can all love and enjoy; Garielle Williams taught us a cool way of coming up with interesting ideas for writing stories called ‘The Nine Squares'; Yassmin's talk had us laughing so much, we could not tell the difference between what was true and what wasn't. Finally, Jennifer Niven shared with us her own truly inspirational and sad experiences that shaped her books "All the Bright Places" and "Holding up the Universe"; Jennifer also gave us a sneak peek at her movie adaptation of one of her novels. Overall, Sydney Writers' Festival was an awesome experience that personally I enjoyed a lot – learning so much from just a day out with inspirational writers. Thanks also to Ms Paabo for organizing the excursion and taking us.
