Interact held the Purple for a Purpose Cake stall and Mufti day to support Stephanie Moss, now Stephanie Ewing's, a courageous young lady, and graduate of Caringbah High to raise much needed funds for two worthy causes. The charity (Purple for a Purpose), created by Stephanie and her family raises funds for the Starlight Children's Foundation, and Cure for Life (a foundation established for the advancement of the research into brain tumours within Australia).
The students and teachers at Caringbah showed their support on Tuesday 4thof June with a purple themed mufti day and cake stall.
At a school assembly earlier in the term, students and staff had the opportunity to hear from Kerry Moss who spoke about her daughter Stephanie's struggle with brain cancer. This speech touched the hearts of many and assisted in raising awareness for the cause. Hearing directly from Kerry drove an almost overwhelming show of support from both students and teachers, with contributions for the cake stall resulting in tables overflowing with cupcakes to such excess that a second stall had to be held the following day!
Interact members would like to express their gratitude to everyone who contributed to the day with cakes and donations and to the entire school for getting on board with the theme. As a result of the tremendous response this day can now be considered one of the most successful fundraisers Interact has held, we can now proudly hand over a total of more than $2200 to the Purple for a Purpose charity!
If you're interested in following Stephanie's story or contributing to her cause please don't hesitate to check out the Purple for a Purpose Facebook page.
A special thank you to Patisserie New York and all the businesses that supported Interact and donated cakes.
